Andrea Coggins

Yoga teacher

What were you like as a Yoga-beginner and any advice for a new Student?

Like so many people, I came to my first yoga practice through a physical injury. I entered the room with doubts and left it completely convinced that I had found what I didn't know I was looking for. I was 15 years old and just went on from there.

What inspires you to teach?

Every time the studio fills up with my students, energies meet, some people are stressed, some bored, some come with pain, doubts or a concentrated load of emotional backpacks. Seeing our students glide into contentment with their work on themselves, deep breathing and carefully guided movement is at the heart of our teaching. This is pure inspiration!

What are you known for in your Yoga classes?

The attempt to teach Yoga with humor, knowledge, experience and ease is important to me. I like to teach the often unnecessarily complicated yoga philosophy in a simpler way and adapt it to everyday life. Reciting books is only useful if we can understand them today.

How do you clear out stress?

In addition to yoga practice, I am lucky to have a handful of excellent friends. If I should ever be on a comfortable downward spiral, the dearly meant kick of my narrower circle is enough, it always helps and is fast and works every time.

What would you do if you had super-powers?

Seeing the people in the morning in stuffed transportation vehicles laughing so much every day that tears drip out of their eyes. Laughter is a power that even the 'greatest' have to bow to. It would be exciting to be there when that happens! I start already times with it...

What does ‘Living Yoga’ mean to you?

A home for souls. An ally for taking a few steps together on the way home. Teaching Living Yoga is a privilege, a personal life mission and a great honor.
